There is enough hook tape to go on each side
of the door frame and to overlap at the top. The material
can then be pressed onto the hook tape and overlap with
the excess being cut from the top. The bottom of the material
is weighted with leaded string or tape. Letting the material
hit the ground means that it is less likely to move in the
breeze.
Flyscreen Summer Doors
These fit in a very similar way to the Lightweight
doors, but there is much wider hook and loop tape which
attaches to the top of the door frame. The two pieces of
door material overlap and then the UPVC strip is then pushed
on top which sandwiches the material to the frame. The additional
thinner hook tape can be attached to the side of the door
frame so that the material has even less chance of moving
in the breeze. There are also optional weights see below.
Attach the material to the extra wide hook tape to the
top of the door frame and overlap.
The finishing strip then fixes the flyscreen material securely
at the top.
Patio Screen
The Patio Screen is secured at the top by
hook tape and has a UVPC white finishing strip and once
you have cut the material to size, so that it touches the
ground, you can then snap the single weight along the material.
If you have a wide gap, then buy two and overlap them.
Here is the top of the screen with the material
attached to the tape and the finishing strip although the
supplied strip runs right to the end of the tape.
The weights clip the together at the bottom
of the flyscreen material.
FAQs
What is the difference between a Lightweight
door and Summer door?
The material supplied with both doors is exactly the same. They
comprise two pieces of 75cm x 220cm polyester. However the Summer
Door has a wider self-adhesive Hook and Loop tape that goes across
the top of the door frame. Pressed against that is a strip of
white UPVC plastic that sandwiches the material to the door frame.
So if there is lots of traffic through the door or very high winds
then it stays in position better. The Lightweight door is best
for simply letting fresh air in and out.
What are the weights like on the lightweight
doors?
On the lightweight curtains the weights are like leaded string,
but actually quite effective when they are in contact with the
floor. Obviously compared to the Heavy Duty Curtain which has
substantial weights there is no comparison, but provided you make
sure that the curtain hits the floor then it is surprisingly effective.
If you have plenty of overlap then the curtains don't really blow
open unless there is a gale. Ultimatey tthough the heavy duty
curtains are best...
Are they suitable for caravans?
We sell a lot to caravan users and we appreciate the doorways
are narrow. Basically the two pieces of material overlap and the
amount of overlap is up to you. Being 75cm wide each that may
well be the width of your door. The Hook and Loop tape sticks
to the door frame the material is soft enough to stick to the
hook and loop tape. At the bottom is leaded string. However our
medium weight door comes with a white UPVC strip and thicker Hook
and Loop is better as a main entrance at the top so that if there
are lots people going in and out the material won't get dragged
off. That can happen with the lightweight set up. If you dont
mind screwing into your caravan doorway, or using Hook and Loop
tape the heavy duty doors are also ideal.
Can they be used outside?
No, they are not suitable for permanent use outside as the Hook
and Loop tape will eventually deteriorate in adverse weather conditions.
