Bi-Fold Flyscreen Door - Fitting Instructions

Before you start

• Do not cut the cord.
• The aluminium profile end containing the folding material should stay shut. Keep it secured with the supplied tape until the screen is mounted.
• The 4m folding material cannot be reduced in width. To make the door narrower, the height is what gets adjusted (see below).
• For screens over 3m wide, join the extra top and bottom profiles using the supplied metal joining bracket and screws.

What's in the box

• Aluminium profiles (top, bottom, and the side profiles)
• Metal joining bracket for the top and bottom profiles
• Four corner pieces, two fitted to the screen material side, two fitted opposite (the spares)
• Four fixing screws for the corners
• Corner covers
• Wheels (already fitted)

Constructing the frame

1. Lay the profiles out on a flat surface.
2. Tap the corner pieces into the ends of the profiles to form the rectangle (see video below).
3. Tension the cord by securing it at the opposite corners (top and bottom) and hold it in position with the corner cover. Screw in place.
4. Lift the assembled frame into position. This needs at least two people.
5. Screw the corners into the door frame. Make sure it is square before the next step.
6. Only now release the tape and pull the screen to the shut position. Check the cords are still tensioned and re-tension if needed.

Frame assembly demonstration. The demo frame is much smaller than a real doorway frame, but the technique is identical.

Adjusting the height

The folding material can't be cut in width, but the height can be reduced. Both the aluminium profiles and the folding mesh have to be cut, and the screen must be taken apart first because the mesh is cut separately from the profile.

1. Remove one corner and one wheel from each profile and carefully slide out the mesh screen.
2. Cut the two end profiles together (the ones without corners A and C). The exact length depends on your finished height. See the worked example below.
3. Cut the middle profile (the one without wheel B) 5mm shorter than the end profiles.
4. Construct the frame without the screen first to make sure it fits around the doorway. Do not release the screen material until the frame is secured.
5. Cut the mesh screen 3cm shorter than the required height.
6. Cut the white plastic backing on the mesh by 5mm (0.5cm) with scissors on both sides so it sits in the corners correctly.
7. Re-insert the mesh back into the profiles and reattach the corners and wheels.

Important: ensure the cords are pulled taut and not caught in any way. If a cord catches, the door will not work effectively.
