Aluminium mesh is the material to choose when fibreglass isn't tough enough. Common uses are re-meshing damaged fly screens, building custom screens for windows and doors, and any project where a metal mesh is specified over a fabric one. For lighter projects, white or charcoal fibreglass mesh is a softer, more flexible alternative.
Compared to fibreglass mesh of the same gauge, aluminium resists pet claws and the occasional knock without tearing. The 18 by 16 hole count is fine enough to block midges and small mosquitoes while keeping airflow free.
Once cut to size, aluminium mesh holds its shape on its own, which means you can use it for projects where fibreglass would be too floppy. To cut, use sharp scissors or tin snips along the line you want. Lay the mesh flat first so the cut edge doesn't curl.
We sell pre-cut sizes for the most common windows and doors, and rolls of 10m or 30m for larger projects. If you need a custom dimension we can supply by the metre on request. Email a photo with the rough measurements and we'll quote.

What Is It?
Aluminium mesh material for making your own insect screens or replacing existing mesh where metal is specified. Tougher and longer-lasting than fibreglass. Can be fixed to frames with staples or glue.
How Is It Supplied?
Available as individual rolls (120x250cm), 10m rolls, or 30m rolls. Also available as narrow soffit rolls (23cm x 20m) for ventilation screening.
30m rolls are manufactured in Europe - continuous length cannot always be guaranteed.
Suitable For
Permanent window and door installations, soffit and fascia ventilation, and anywhere you need a tougher mesh. Aluminium resists pet claws better than fibreglass and lasts longer in exposed outdoor positions. Special offer lengths may be available - call to ask.
